The Marin Futsal League is currently making preparations for the start of its 17th season. During the first 16 seasons over 12,000 local kids took part in Futsal. Futsal is the official indoor sport of FIFA (soccer’s governing body). Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced sport that has skill development designed right into it. With Futsal, a player can’t help but improve their passing, shooting, dribbling, defending, and overall team skills. People are always amazed at the great ball handling skills that the top South American players display and often wonder where they learned it! The answer is simple – they all played Futsal while growing up.
The Marin Futsal League will start on the weekend of January 7/8, 2012, and run through the first weekend in March. The games will be held at various facilities throughout Marin. The games will be played on Saturday or Sunday. The program is offered to U-7, U-8, U-9, U-10, U-11, U-12, U-14, U-16, U-19 (boys and girls) teams, and this year an open adult league. Players are eligible to play in the same age group category as they did during this past outdoor season. There are two divisions: Competitive and Recreational.
